The Survivor Guild was launched on August 12, 2021 by Baqhawafazi.
The goal of the Survivor Guild was to combat Gender-Based Violence & Femicide from a victim-centred perspective. Guilds are associations of individuals with similar interests organized for the purpose of protecting each other’s interests. (Subversive play on words associated with the saying Survivors Guilt.) There are many ways in which society can influence and change problematic belief systems and the causes, manifestations, and consequences of GBVF in the Survivors Guild. A platform for women authors, artists, business leaders, media personalities, and survivors of the GBVF will be provided at the event.
Protect.
Throughout all of our integrated efforts, the rights of survivors and victims of GBVF should be prioritized, including the right to privacy, safety, and well-being. In addition, we assist organizations in advancing a system that ensures perpetrators are held accountable and the vicious cycle of abuse is broken by advancing a system that ensures perpetrators are brought to justice.
Firms and individuals committed to holding perpetrators accountable through the improvement, tightening, or challenging of the legal framework or legislation in a way that is supportive of the victim and the survivor.
Promote.
Access to a variety of victim-centred access points should be available to all victims and survivors of GBVF. Survivors Guild is able to make a substantive contribution to fostering a more equitable and cohesive society by supporting both public and private efforts to decrease the imbalances and dynamics that contribute to gender inequality.
Defending the rights of women (advocacy groups that strive to end gender-based violence and femicide.
Preserve.
In order to preserve and honour the memory of those who have suffered the effects of gender-based violence and femicide, we need to integrate the efforts of various sectors, industries, institutions, and individuals. It is through the construction of the Wall of Remembrance that we commemorate and honour the lives lost, the brave survivors, and the families that continue to suffer the tragedy.
A Walk Fit for Purpose
Through A Walk Fit For Purpose, Baqhawafazi encourages women to take a stand against gender-based violence in partnership with the Public & Private Sector Integration Programme.
Bringing together ambassadors, our spokesperson, and other anti-GBVF partners. In collaboration with Public & Private stakeholders, we developed national media plans. Our primary focus would be on the 30 GBVF hotspots across all nine provinces.
We designed a systematic framework to encourage socially beneficial behaviour that integrated concepts, methods, and principles. Our goal is to change people’s perceptions and behaviours’ regarding gender-based violence and femicidity.
